A directionless, young campus bus driver and a charismatic Samoan, punk rock security guard named Pineapple form an unlikely kinship as they navigate the unpredictable late shift debacle known as the “drunk bus,” and together break out of the endless loop into a world of uncertainty, excitement and incredibly poor decision-making.

Charlie Tahan (Ozark) and Kara Hayward (MANCHESTER BY THE SEA, MOONRISE KINGDOM) star in this coming-of-age comedy about a young, directionless campus bus driver (Tahan) and the punk-rock, charismatic samoan security guard named Pineapple (played by newcomer Pineapple Tangaroa) who is hired to protect him on the night-shift as drunk college students are ushered from one party to the next. A mismatched pair, the two form an unlikely friendship as they work together to break out of the endless loop into a world of uncertainty, excitement, and incredibly poor decision making on the Drunk Bus.

Directed by Brandon LaGanke and John Carlucci (Ghost+Cow), and written by Chris Molinaro, DRUNK BUS was shot over 19 days on location in Rochester, New York and the small town of Montour Falls, New York through snow and frigid temperatures in February and March. Luke McCoubrey (THE CLOVEHITCH KILLER) was the cinematographer. Carmen Navis (THEM THAT FOLLOW) was the production designer.

Additional cast includes Zach Cherry (Netflix’s You, Crashing), Dave Hill (Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Sarah Mezzanotte (Search Party), Tonatiuh Elizarraraz (Chicago Med), with a cameo by former My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero. Rebecca Dealy was the casting director.

Carlucci and LaGanke’s previous work includes the “L1ZY” short film for Big Data which premiered at the 2019 Santa Barbara Film Festival, Funny or Die’s “Thoughts & Prayers” short starring SNL’s Darrell Hammond, music videos for Joywave, Zebra Katz and Chappo, and the wildly popular viral short “Drone Boning” which was covered by late night hosts Stephen Colbert, Conan O’Brien, Seth Meyers, with extensive coverage on digital and more. Eric Hollenbeck (NATIVE SON, THE KINGS OF SUMMER) and Steven Ilous are producers. Edward Nash, Michael Carroll, Tom Gordon, and Ian Tarbert are Executive Producers. It is co-produced by Benjamin Bradford.

DRUNK BUS will look to make its world premiere in the winter/spring 2020 festival circuit.
